That's a lot of extra weight in wider rubber and flared fenders. Apparently, they stretch the wheelbase, for who knows what reason.
And you have the high cost of that carbon fiber design and high maintenance of this bike engine. The new Miata only weighs around 2200# and is actually a bit roomier, has steel construction, a ragtop and will be bought for a fraction of the price. If Mazda does build a coupe it will likely be even lighter, perhaps less than 2100#. Until then, you could build a nice FFR 818 for less than $20K, and it will be lighter than the XL sport with more power and less maintenance, but considerably less refinement.
